Water Conservation

 

 

On January 17th, 2014 Governor Jerry Brown declared a State of Emergency in light of the severe drought and water shortages in California. 

 

In response, Sea Slugs teamed up with UCSC's Take Back the Tap and Summer Orientation Office to supply all incoming students - freshman, junior transfers and international students - with 24oz recyclable water bottles to reduce not only water waste on campus but cut back the distribution of one-use plastic water bottles. 

 

During the Summer Orientation of 2014, approximately 5000 students successfully received their own aluminum water bottles. 

 

Sea Slugs continues to support water conservation on the campus of UCSC and the initiatives of Take Back the Tap, who've continued to reduce water waste with the installation of water filling spigots.
